# Affiliate program

Recommend APIs from Zyla API Hub to your audience and earn up to **35%** of what each referred customer pays, every month for up to **12 months**. Joining is free and your link is ready as soon as you create it.

## How it works

1. **Get your link.** Sign in, open the [affiliate dashboard](https://zylalabs.com/affiliates/dashboard) and click **Create your link**. Any Zyla account can join.
2. **Check the rate of an API.** Under **Commission for an API**, paste the marketplace URL of a listing and click **Check**. You see your rate for that API, an estimate for each of its plans and a referral link that sends people straight to that listing.
3. **Share it.** Use the link in posts, docs, videos, newsletters or messages. The general link sends visitors to the marketplace; the per-API link sends them to that API.
4. **Earn on every payment.** When someone who clicked your link subscribes, each paid invoice in their first 12 months earns you a commission. Every sale appears in the dashboard and you get an email for each one.
5. **Request your payout.** Once commissions are released and add up to $100, request the payout from the dashboard.

## What you earn

The rate depends on who publishes the API: **35%** of the plan price on APIs built by Zyla, and **10%** on APIs published by other providers. You don't need to find out who published an API: paste its listing URL into the checker in the dashboard (step 2 above) and it shows the exact rate before you promote it.

Commission is calculated on what the customer actually pays on each invoice, after any discount, coupon or promotion. A $99/month plan at 35% earns about $34.65 a month; the same plan at 10% earns about $9.90 a month.

| Customer's plan | What earns commission |
|---|---|
| Monthly | Each paid renewal in the first 12 months, up to 12 payments. |
| Annual | The first 12 months of that invoice, released as 12 monthly amounts. |
| Free trial | Nothing during the trial. Commission starts with the first paid invoice; if the customer cancels during the trial, there is none. |

The 12 months count paid months only.

## Attribution

- A click on your link lasts **90 days** and has to happen before the customer's first payment.
- If several affiliates referred the same customer, the **last click** within those 90 days wins.
- Customers who were already paying before clicking your link do not generate commission.

## Getting paid

- **Hold.** Each commission is held for **30 days** from the customer's payment, so refunds and disputes can be settled first. If you lose a dispute on a payment from one of your referrals, your hold becomes 90 days.
- **Minimum.** Payouts start at **$100**. Smaller available balances carry over until they reach it.
- **Before your first payout.** Add an approved PayPal account or U.S. bank account, and your tax information, in [payout settings](https://zylalabs.com/provider_settings).
- **Approval.** You request the payout from the dashboard and the Zyla team approves it by hand.

In the dashboard, each commission shows one of these statuses:

| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Held | Inside the 30-day hold. |
| Available | Released; counts toward your next payout. |
| In payout | Part of a payout you requested. |
| Paid | Paid out. |
| Reversed | Voided by a refund, a dispute or an uncollected payment. |
| Under review | Held while the Zyla team reviews the sale. |

## What does not earn commission

- **Your own subscription.** No self-referrals: same user, same email address (aliases included) or same payment card.
- **Your own API.** A sale of an API you published pays you the provider share instead (see [Earn with your APIs](https://zylalabs.com/docs/earn)). You can still earn on every other API in the hub.
- **Failed payments.** Declined cards, uncollected invoices and renewals that never get paid.
- **Refunds, disputes and fraud.** They void the commission on that charge, including the parts not released yet. If that commission was already paid out, your balance goes negative and future commissions pay it down before your next withdrawal.
