The GasBuddy API provides up-to-date information on gas stations and fuel prices, helping users find nearby stations, compare fuel costs, and access detailed station information. It supports fuel price data such as average prices, lowest available prices, and prices by fuel type, with results that can be retrieved based on a specific location or ZIP code.
Each gas station record can include its name, address, unique identifier, geographic coordinates, phone number, operating status, opening hours, user ratings, available fuel types, and supported services. Additional station details may include pay-at-the-pump availability, convenience stores, air compressors, ATMs, and cash discounts.
By combining fuel pricing with station and location data, the API provides a practical way to identify nearby gas stations, compare available fuel options, and retrieve relevant details for each location. This makes it suitable for applications that need to display local gas stations, monitor fuel prices, or help users find and compare fuel options in a specific area.
The "Get Prices" endpoint returns gas station prices, including station names, addresses, and fuel prices for a specified ZIP code. The "Station Data" endpoint provides detailed information about a specific gas station, including its location, contact details, operating status, fuel types, and amenities.
Key fields in the "Get Prices" response include "station_id," "station," "address," and "price." In the "Station Data" response, important fields are "station_id," "name," "coordinates," "phone," "open_status," and "fuels."
The "Get Prices" endpoint requires a ZIP code and fuel type as parameters. The "Station Data" endpoint requires a specific station ID, which can be obtained from the "Get Prices" response.
The response data is structured in JSON format. The "Get Prices" response includes a "gas_prices" array containing multiple station records, while the "Station Data" response includes a "data" object with detailed station information.
The GasBuddy API aggregates data from user reports, partnerships with gas stations, and other reliable sources to ensure accurate and up-to-date information on gas prices and station details.
Typical use cases include developing applications that help users find nearby gas stations, compare fuel prices, monitor fuel costs, and access detailed information about available services at each station.
Users can leverage the returned data to display gas prices on maps, create price comparison tools, or provide users with information about station amenities, helping them make informed decisions when refueling.
If the "Get Prices" endpoint returns no results, users should check the specified ZIP code or fuel type. For empty station details, users can use the station ID with the "Station Data" endpoint to retrieve more information.
