Each endpoint returns readability metrics for provided text, including scores like Flesch Reading Ease, Flesch-Kincaid Grade, and Gunning Fog, along with word, sentence, and syllable counts, as well as reading and speaking times.
Key fields include "language," "words," "sentences," "syllables," "scores" (which contains various readability scores), "readingTimeSeconds," and "speakingTimeSeconds." These provide a comprehensive overview of the text's readability.
The response data is structured in JSON format, with top-level fields for language and counts, followed by a "scores" object containing various readability metrics. This organization allows for easy parsing and analysis.
Both endpoints provide readability scores for English and Spanish texts, including metrics like Flesch Reading Ease and INFLESZ. They also include counts of words, sentences, syllables, and estimated reading/speaking times.
The GET endpoint does not require parameters, while the POST endpoint accepts a text body containing the content for analysis. Users can customize their requests by providing different texts for evaluation.
Typical use cases include assessing the readability of educational materials, optimizing content for specific audiences, and improving writing clarity. The metrics help writers tailor their texts to desired reading levels.
Users can analyze the readability scores to adjust their writing style, ensuring it matches the target audience's comprehension level. For example, a high Flesch Reading Ease score indicates simpler text suitable for younger readers.
Data accuracy is maintained through established readability formulas and algorithms that analyze text structure and complexity. Regular updates and validation against linguistic standards ensure reliable results.
