Look up any UPC or EAN barcode and get the product name, brand, category, image and ingredients or nutrition data where available.
Send the items query parameter with up to 5 comma-separated values, for example items=3017624010701. Optional parameters: databases, includeIngredients, includeNutrition.
JSON with tool, count and a results array. Each result row is one record with the same fields as the example response on this page, so it maps straight into a table or CSV.
One call counts as one request, even with up to 5 items in it. Batch your values to get more data per request.
Official public APIs, public web pages, public files and DNS, fetched live at request time. No logins or paywalls are bypassed.
Most calls return in 2 to 15 seconds. Large batches or heavy pages can take up to about two minutes. If you get a busy reply, retry after 10 seconds.
Requests stop at the plan quota, with no surprise overage charges. Move to a larger plan any time to keep going.
The Barcode Lookup endpoint returns product data including the product name, brand, category, image, ingredients, and nutrition information when available. It provides detailed information for each barcode queried.
Key fields in the response include input, barcode, type, checksumValid, found, productName, brands, quantity, categories, and nutriScore. Each field provides specific details about the product associated with the barcode.
The response is structured in JSON format, containing a "tool" identifier, a "count" of results, and a "results" array. Each item in the array represents a product with its associated fields, making it easy to parse and utilize.
The endpoint provides information such as product names, brands, categories, packaging details, ingredient lists, nutrition scores, and countries where the product is sold, offering a comprehensive view of the product.
Users can customize requests by using optional parameters like "databases" to specify data sources, and "includeIngredients" or "includeNutrition" to include additional details in the response, tailoring the output to their needs.
The response data is organized into a main object containing metadata (tool and count) and a results array. Each result is an object with fields that describe the product, allowing for straightforward data extraction and analysis.
Data accuracy is maintained through sourcing from official public APIs, web pages, and files, with live fetching at request time. This ensures that users receive the most current and reliable product information available.
Typical use cases include inventory management, product comparison, nutritional analysis, and e-commerce applications. Businesses and developers can leverage this data to enhance user experiences and provide detailed product insights.
