The Instagram Premium Downloader API retrieves downloadable media from public Instagram posts and Reels.
How it works (Download)
id and progress_url.progress is 100.download_url from the Progress response to retrieve the media (video MP4 or image, depending on the post).Video Information returns metadata (post ID, title/caption, author, media kind, engagement metrics, thumbnail) without completing a full media download workflow when cached/available.
Scope
/p/…) and Reels (/reel/…, /reels/…) — video or image.Use the download_url from Progress to fetch the file. Do not expect the Hub to proxy binary media responses.
The Download endpoint returns a unique task ID and a progress URL. The Progress endpoint provides download progress, completion status, metadata, and the final download URL. The Video Information endpoint returns details about the video, including post ID, title, author, media type, thumbnail, and engagement metrics.
Key fields include "success" (indicating request success), "id" (task ID), "progress" (download progress percentage), "download_url" (final URL for the video), and "title" (video title). Each endpoint has specific fields relevant to its function.
Response data is structured in JSON format. Each endpoint returns a success flag, followed by relevant data fields. For example, the Progress endpoint includes fields like "progress," "text," and "download_url," allowing users to easily parse and utilize the information.
The Download endpoint initiates a download job, the Progress endpoint provides real-time updates on download status, and the Video Information endpoint offers comprehensive details about the video, including engagement metrics and media type.
Users can customize requests by providing specific Instagram post URLs to the Download endpoint. The Progress endpoint requires the task ID obtained from the Download endpoint to check the status of the download.
Typical use cases include integrating Instagram video content into applications, creating video archives, or developing tools for content creators to manage their media. The API facilitates seamless access to public Instagram videos for various workflows.
Data accuracy is maintained by directly accessing Instagram's public content through their URLs. The API processes these URLs to ensure that the returned video information is current and reflects the latest available data.
Users can expect a consistent response structure across endpoints, with a "success" field indicating the outcome. Progress updates will typically show incremental changes until reaching 100%, at which point the download URL becomes available.
