The LATAM Tax ID Validator API can validate tax identification numbers for seven Latin American countries: CUIT (Argentina), RUT (Chile), RUC (Peru, Ecuador, Paraguay), NIT (Colombia), and CI (Uruguay).
The API employs various validation methods, including Modulo 11 check digit verification for Argentina and Chile, prime number weight validation for Colombia, and entity type detection for Peru and Ecuador, ensuring accurate results.
The API is ideal for fintech applications, e-commerce checkout validation, KYC compliance, and accounting software that serves the Latin American market, helping businesses verify customer identities efficiently.
The API provides structured output that includes the validated tax ID, its validity status, the entity type (if applicable), and any relevant check digits or formatting details, allowing for easy integration into applications.
Developers can integrate the API by making requests with tax ID numbers and receiving validation responses, which can be incorporated into user registration processes, payment systems, or compliance checks to enhance operational efficiency.
The Validate Tax ID endpoint returns a structured JSON response that includes the country code, tax ID type, input ID, validity status, formatted ID, and metadata such as entity type and prefix.
Key fields in the response include "country" (country code), "id_type" (type of tax ID), "input" (original ID), "valid" (boolean validity), "formatted" (formatted ID), and "metadata" (additional details like entity type).
The response data is organized in a JSON format, with top-level fields for country, ID type, input, validity, formatted ID, and a nested "metadata" object containing specific details about the entity type.
The endpoint accepts parameters such as "country" (to specify the country) and "id" (the tax identification number to validate), allowing users to customize their validation requests.
The endpoint provides information on the validity of the tax ID, the formatted version of the ID, and metadata about the entity type, such as whether it is a natural or legal person.
Data accuracy is maintained through rigorous validation algorithms specific to each country's tax ID format, including check digit verification and entity type detection, ensuring reliable results.
Typical use cases include verifying customer identities during onboarding, validating tax IDs in e-commerce transactions, and ensuring compliance with KYC regulations in financial services.
Users can utilize the returned data by integrating the validity status and entity type into their applications, enhancing user verification processes and improving compliance with local regulations.
