Search public Reddit discussions by keyword across all communities or specific subreddits with sorting by relevance, hot, top, new, or comment count and time-range filters.
Each endpoint returns structured JSON data from public Reddit communities: Search Reddit Posts and Get Subreddit Feed Posts return post collections with scores and pagination cursors, Get Post Detail returns full thread metadata plus top comments, Get Post Comment Thread returns nested comment trees, and Get User Submitted Posts returns public user submissions.
Key post fields include `id`, `title`, `subreddit`, `author`, `score`, `upvoteRatio`, `commentCount`, `createdAt`, `permalink`, `bodyText`, and `mediaUrls`. Comment items also include `parentId` and `depth` to reconstruct multi-level conversation trees.
Parameters vary by endpoint and include `query`, `subreddit`, `sort`, `time_range`, `limit`, `cursor`, `include_nsfw`, `post_id`, `include_comments`, `comment_limit`, `username`, `tab`, and `no_cache`.
When additional items are available, the response includes a `nextCursor` string and `hasNextPage` boolean. Pass the `nextCursor` value into the `cursor` parameter on your next request to retrieve the next page.
Yes. On the Get Post Detail endpoint, set `include_comments` to `true` and adjust `comment_limit` to receive both the complete `post` object and the top thread `comments` in one request.
Every response uses a consistent JSON envelope containing a `success` boolean, a `meta` object with `request_id`, `latency_ms`, and `cached` status, and a `data` object holding the requested `items`, `post`, or `comments`.
Common use cases include AI agent grounding and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), social listening, brand sentiment analysis, community trend tracking, market research, and developer ecosystem monitoring.
Responses are cached for 60 seconds by default to maximize speed and protect rate limits. Pass `no_cache` set to `true` on any endpoint to force a fresh real-time upstream extraction.
The Search Reddit Posts endpoint allows you to retrieve public posts based on a keyword search across all communities or specific subreddits. You can filter results by relevance, hot, top, new, and comment count, as well as apply time-range filters to refine your search results.
You can customize the data returned by specifying parameters such as `subreddit` to target a specific community, `sort` to determine the order of posts (hot, new, top, rising), and `pageSize` to control the number of posts returned in each response.
The data returned includes detailed metadata about a specific post, such as `id`, `title`, `author`, `score`, and `upvoteRatio`. It also provides an optional preview of top-level comments, structured with their own metadata, allowing for easy navigation of the discussion.
If an endpoint returns no results, the `items` array will be empty, and the `hasMore` field will be `false`. You can check these fields to determine if further requests are necessary or if the search criteria need adjustment.
The Get Post Comment Thread endpoint supports sorting options such as `confidence`, `top`, `new`, `controversial`, and `old`. These options allow you to retrieve comments in the desired order based on engagement or recency.
The `nextCursor` value returned in the response indicates that more data is available. To retrieve the next set of results, include this value in the `cursor` parameter of your subsequent request to continue fetching data seamlessly.
The Get User Submitted Posts and Activity endpoint returns metadata such as `username`, `profileUrl`, and a list of posts submitted by the user, including details like `title`, `subreddit`, and `permalink`, allowing you to track user contributions effectively.
The data is sourced directly from public Reddit discussions, ensuring real-time accuracy. The API employs checks to filter out spam and irrelevant content, maintaining a high standard of data quality for users accessing community discussions.
