Sudoku and Maze Generator API

API ID 14591

Generate sudoku puzzles at four difficulty levels and printable mazes as JSON or SVG, seeded and checked solvable, plus ready-made word themes.

API Documentation

Endpoints

Request
Easy puzzles fall to naked singles alone (36–40 clues), Medium needs hidden singles (29–33), Hard needs pencil-mark logic such as pointing pairs and naked pairs but never guessing (23–28). Uniqueness is checked by an exhaustive solver before the puzzle is returned. Grids use 0 for empty squares; puzzleString uses ".".

Request
Send any 81-character grid (row by row; 1-9 for a digit, 0 or . for an empty square). You get the solution, whether it is the only one (solutionCount stops at 2 and the second one is shown), repeated digits by row, column or box, and a rating: the hardest technique a person needs (easy: singles; medium: hidden singles; hard: pointing, claiming, pairs; expert: triples, X-Wing; beyond: none of these is enough) with how often each was used.

Request
The simplest technique that makes progress from this grid: full house, hidden single, naked single, pointing, claiming, naked/hidden pair, naked/hidden triple, X-Wing. "hint" is the next square that can be filled; "steps" are the eliminations that lead to it (each with the squares and digits removed) ending with that placement. Every step is a sound deduction. Send "original" (the starting puzzle) to have wrong entries listed as mistakes first. When none of these techniques applies, "reveal" gives the square with the fewest candidates and its digit. candidates=true adds the pencil marks after the steps.

Request
Row and column clues for a random picture, 5 x 5 up to 25 x 25. Every puzzle is solved by line logic alone (one row or column at a time) before it is returned, which proves the picture is the only solution and that it can be solved without guessing. density: low (more white, usually harder), medium, high. linePasses is a rough difficulty (rounds of line logic needed). Empty lines have the clue [] (print it as 0).

Nonogram picture logic with exactly one solution — CODE SNIPPETS

curl --location --request GET 'https://zylalabs.com/api/14591/sudoku+and+maze+generator+api/37397/nonogram+picture+logic+with+exactly+one+solution?w=10&h=8&density=medium&seed=42&svg=false&format=json&answers=false' --header 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY'

Request
Fill every white square with 1-9 so each across and down run adds up to its clue with no digit repeated in a run. Sizes (the whole grid, the clue row and column included): small 7 x 7, medium 8 x 8, large 10 x 10. An exhaustive solver proves the solution is the only one before the puzzle is returned. layout rows use "#" for black squares and "." for white ones; clues sit in black squares (across = the run to the right, down = the run below).

curl --location --request GET 'https://zylalabs.com/api/14591/sudoku+and+maze+generator+api/37398/kakuro+sum+cross+with+exactly+one+solution?size=small&seed=42&svg=false&format=json&answers=false' --header 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY'

Request
Fill an n x n grid (4-9) so each row and column holds 1 to n once, and the digits in each cage give its target with its operation (+, -, x, /; for - and / the larger digit comes first, in any order on the grid). A one-square cage is a given number. An exhaustive solver proves there is exactly one solution before the puzzle is returned. ops: all (default), addsub (+ and - only) or add (+ only) for younger players.

Overview

Generate sudoku puzzles at four difficulty levels and printable mazes as JSON or SVG, seeded and checked solvable, plus ready-made word themes.

Sudoku and Maze Generator API FAQs

Each endpoint returns JSON data specific to the puzzle type requested. For example, the Sudoku endpoint provides a grid with clues and a unique solution, while the Nonogram endpoint returns row and column clues along with a solvable picture.

Key fields vary by endpoint but generally include "type," "uniqueSolution," "clues," and the puzzle grid or clues. For instance, the Sudoku response includes "difficulty" and "puzzle," while the Kakuro response includes "layout" and "clues."

Parameters vary by endpoint. For Sudoku, you can specify "difficulty" (easy, medium, hard) and "seed" for reproducibility. The Nonogram endpoint allows you to set "density" (low, medium, high) to influence puzzle complexity.

Response data is structured in a JSON format with nested objects and arrays. For example, the Sudoku response includes an array for the puzzle grid and an object for metadata like "seed" and "difficulty," making it easy to parse and utilize.

Typical use cases include generating puzzles for games, educational tools, or recreational activities. Developers can integrate the API to create interactive puzzle applications or websites that offer users a variety of logic puzzles.

Data accuracy is ensured through exhaustive solving algorithms that check for uniqueness and solvability before returning puzzles. Each endpoint validates the generated puzzles to confirm they meet the specified criteria.

Users can expect consistent data patterns, such as a grid format for puzzles and structured clues for Nonograms and Kakuro. Each puzzle type has a defined layout, making it straightforward to implement in applications.

Users can utilize the returned data by parsing the JSON response to display puzzles in their applications. For example, the Sudoku grid can be rendered in a UI, while clues from Kakuro can guide users in solving the puzzle.

The free trial lasts for 7 days and allows you to make up to 50 API requests.

No, the free trial is available only once, so we recommend using it on the API that interests you the most. Most of our APIs offer a free trial, but some may not include this option.

Zyla API Hub is like a big store for APIs, where you can find thousands of them all in one place. We also offer dedicated support and real-time monitoring of all APIs. Once you sign up, you can pick and choose which APIs you want to use. Just remember, each API needs its own subscription. But if you subscribe to multiple ones, you'll use the same key for all of them, making things easier for you.

Prices are listed in USD (United States Dollar), EUR (Euro), CAD (Canadian Dollar), AUD (Australian Dollar), and GBP (British Pound). We accept all major debit and credit cards. Our payment system uses the latest security technology and is powered by Stripe, one of the world's most reliable payment companies. If you have any trouble paying by card, just contact us at [email protected]

Additionally, if you already have an active subscription in any of these currencies (USD, EUR, CAD, AUD, GBP), that currency will remain for subsequent subscriptions. You can change the currency at any time as long as you don't have any active subscriptions.
The local currency shown on the pricing page is based on the country of your IP address and is provided for reference only. The actual prices are in USD (United States Dollar). When you make a payment, the charge will appear on your card statement in USD, even if you see the equivalent amount in your local currency on our website. This means you cannot pay directly with your local currency.
Occasionally, a bank may decline the charge due to its fraud protection settings. We suggest reaching out to your bank initially to check if they are blocking our charges. Also, you can access the Billing Portal and change the card associated to make the payment. If these does not work and you need further assistance, please contact our team at [email protected]
Prices are determined by a recurring monthly or yearly subscription, depending on the chosen plan.
API calls are deducted from your plan based on successful requests. Each plan comes with a specific number of calls that you can make per month. Only successful calls, indicated by a Status 200 response, will be counted against your total. This ensures that failed or incomplete requests do not impact your monthly quota.
Zyla API Hub works on a recurring monthly subscription system. Your billing cycle will start the day you purchase one of the paid plans, and it will renew the same day of the next month. So be aware to cancel your subscription beforehand if you want to avoid future charges.
To upgrade your current subscription plan, simply go to the pricing page of the API and select the plan you want to upgrade to. The upgrade will be instant, allowing you to immediately enjoy the features of the new plan. Please note that any remaining calls from your previous plan will not be carried over to the new plan, so be aware of this when upgrading. You will be charged the full amount of the new plan.
To check how many API calls you have left for the current month, refer to the 'X-Zyla-API-Calls-Monthly-Remaining' field in the response header. For example, if your plan allows 1,000 requests per month and you've used 100, this field in the response header will indicate 900 remaining calls.

You can monitor your API usage through the response headers included with every request:

x-zyla-api-calls-monthly-used: Shows the total number of API requests you have used during the current billing period.
x-zyla-api-calls-monthly-remaining: Shows the number of API requests you have remaining for the current billing period.

The 'X-Zyla-RateLimit-Reset' header shows the number of seconds until your rate limit resets. This tells you when your request count will start fresh. For example, if it displays 3,600, it means 3,600 seconds are left until the limit resets.

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. Simply go to the Pricing section of the API you're subscribed to and click the "Unsubscribe" button.

Please note that upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations take effect immediately. Once your subscription is canceled, access to the service will end immediately, regardless of any remaining API calls in your quota.

After 7 days, you will be charged the full amount for the plan you were subscribed to during the trial. Therefore, it's important to cancel before the trial period ends. Refund requests for forgetting to cancel on time are not accepted.
When you subscribe to an API free trial, you can make up to 50 API calls. If you wish to make additional API calls beyond this limit, the API will prompt you to perform an "Start Your Paid Plan."
